Hitting Paydirt

I feel like I've stumbled onto something big.

If you're a regular reader (thanks, Michael Bundschuh), you may have noticed that the topics here jump around quite a bit—Power Platform, Azure, AI, Networking, Security, DevOps—interspersed with demos and essays on seemingly unrelated topics.

Well, either there was a method to my madness, or I got lucky, or both. Over the last week, I've been super-productive, creative, and energized.

Breaking New Ground with Copilot

I figured out how to get Copilot to take apart a Power Platform app and put it back together again—better, stronger, faster.

A Small Example

Before, I had a QR Code generator that worked with any colors. Now, it supports:

• Multiple pixel styles
• Corner radius customization
• Center image overlay with transparency
• Border and quiet zone management
• Advanced styling

It took me longer to write that paragraph than to generate the code it describes—and the code works!

Scaling Up the Process

This process works on a larger scale. Last week, I brought in my Business Card Generator app, originally built as a Power Apps canvas app. Now, I have a full Deck Assignment Package (DAP) protocol that enables design-to-production workflows in a single integrated system—something I had dreamed of building but didn't think I could complete in time to ship a product.

The Results

• Performance: Runs 20x faster than my original Power Automate flows.
• Robustness: Improved security and better DevOps practices.
• Efficiency: Turned an eight-month prototype into a polished solution in just eight days.

Having built what I initially imagined, I'm now taking it to unbelievably cool new places. I've even started writing code that creates solutions and builds tables back in Dataverse.

Why Bring Code Back to Power Platform?

You may wonder: Why move code back into Power Platform after figuring out how to get it out? The answer is simple—Power Platform isn't standing still. I'm betting that the cutting-edge capabilities of GitHub Copilot will soon be integrated into Power Platform.

You won't have to learn by trial-and-error or watching YouTube videos. You'll learn by doing.

It's going to be quite a ride.
